Nayawin Rar Lodge #296

About Nayawin RaR Lodge:
Nayawin RaR Lodge is the Order of the Arrow Lodge for Tuscarora Council. The Lodge is divided into two chapters -Allogogan (Wayne and Duplin Counties, Torhunta District),Shaw Rar Ren (Johnston and Sampson Counties, Neusiok District)
What is the Order of the Arrow?
The Order of the Arrow is an organization within Scouting America that provides service and leadership opportunities for older Scouts. It is Scouting America’s honored camper society and is dedicated to cheerful service.
The purpose of the Order of the Arrow is four-fold:
- Recognize those who exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives and, through that recognition, cause others to act in the same way.
- Reinforce a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.
- Create and deliver peer-led, adult-guided, advanced leadership experiences for Scouts and Scouters that positively impact their unit, community, and ultimately our nation.
- Be an integral part of Scouting America and encourage participation in all it offers through units, outdoor adventures, and national events to further the Scouting experience.
Who can be in the Order of the Arrow?
The Order of the Arrow is often referred to as “Scouting’s Honor Society”. Membership in the OA is granted only to those who are elected by their own unit. Thus, members are selected primarily by non-members.
Adult selection is based on their ability to perform the necessary functions to help the Order fulfill its purpose, and is not for recognition. Selected adult Scouters must be an asset to the Order because of demonstrated abilities, and provide a positive role model for the youth members of the lodge.
